New Blog Idea..

Seeing as I am constantly posting pictures up of my clothing/styling ideas on my white wooden floors I thought about setting up a new blogspot called 'Floorboard Fashion'. Completly dedicated to what I buy in the week, and what outfits I am piecing together on a daily basis maybe, all photographed on the white wash flooring courtesy of my Hipstomatic iPhone camera app to give the photographs that 'edge'. It's just a thought.

Manchester Lovin'

Just a collection of images from a recent trip to the lovely Manchester land. Of course a stop off at Topshop was inevitable, and as I needed a whole new set of make-up (why does it always seem to run out at once?) I thought I would give Topshop make-up a try! They were being very generous...for every three items of make-up you buy you received a promotional gift bag filled with a pack of facial wipes (worth £3), an eyeliner (worth about £6) and some quirky coloured hair grips which cannot be bought in-store.
I decided to try Topshop mascara, a new blush brush and a dark charcoal eyeshadow for the smokey eyed effect. Of course a sneak peak into clothing could not be missed, and I left Topshop owning an icy grey pair of biker style jeans, black vest top (size 16 for the baggy effect!) and the gorgeous tan clogs with golden buckles. Have not yet mastered the clog walk, this could take some time....

Vintage Again, Right?

The Vintage Warehouse, Nottingham. This place is pretty cool. I know I keep blogging about it but if you have been then you will know what I mean. With the essence of all things 'old', 'renewed', 'past', it literally does feel like walking into the past, like some 80's compound, where any minute a huge rave could kick off. So for those of you who are not from Nottingham I thought I would post a few snaps up on my last trip, this time I didn't pick up any bargain £5 handbags! Boo. Although an nicely styled outfit did catch my eye (v neck stripe jumper and suede shorts).

Lomogue's first Photoshoot: Harriet

Here's the first photoshoot I shot with my action sampler for Lomogue's first issue. Again the toning is beautiful- not to mention the model. What's surprising is that I haven't edited these photos at all, this is all the magic of lomography. What you see is what you get. The contrast between the white wash brick and Harriet's red auburn hair is amazing, especially when teamed with a pastel coloured dress.

Tones in Fashion Photography

These set of images caught my eye, recently found them in my image files, and had not saved the name of the photographer so will try and score/scout his/her name down somehow. I love the toning of this story, it creates an ambience of neautrality yet the colours of the garments have been toned down to make them icy and fresh! I hate to see vivid brights looking brash and harsh, they look much better like this.

Lomography Montage

Just a little watercolour, sequins and collage multi-media mix I created for Lomogue. Rather random but isn't that what zines are about anyway?

My first Lomography shots.

Taken with a lomography action sampler. Working on first issue of Lomogue zine and it's going very well!

Yes, Headresses ARE my thing.

I'm not sure if it's just the summer season, or the fact that I am currently about to embark on a dissertation project to do with 'tribes', but I cannot help but fall in love with feathered, beaded, multi-coloured headresses. Of course they originate from early 1600 red indian tribes, yet the feathered crowns featured in many photoshoots this season really do make me gaze in sheer admiration. I found one in Urban Outfitters, Manchester, yet could not justify spending £20 on one, but it is on my to do list to make one ready for the upcoming summer festivals. A must.
