COLOUR BLOCKING GONE MENTAL

L.A INSPIRED COLOUR BLOCKING GONE MAD BY ANDREW YEE.


This series of astonishing shots by Andrew Yee and styled by Damian Foxe, take colour blocking to another level. I'm not quite sure if any colour of the rainbow has been missed out. 
What I find interesting is the simple contrast of a plain block colour mixed with a set design of palm trees and an L.A inspired skyline. The set design was created by Aaron Johnson primarily for the Financial Times insert. These shots do make me liven up a little bit, full of energy and summery promises. 
The styling in these shots is rather interesting, I'm more of a 'simple is better' type of creative however Damian Foxe has gone all out in the structure, texture and pattern stakes, I'm sure I can find some outfit ideas from it. However I would never have teamed it with the creeper styled trainer; heels work better!

I constantly flick on Trendland.net for inspiration and ideas generation. So when I browsed todays trends I instantly attached my eyes onto this eclectic montages.

The colourful editorial shots have been carefully placed together to juxta mix model Lara Stone against florals, muscles, and natural aesthetics for the March issue of W magazine.

It carefully showcases springs latest trends. I think this is a great way of portraying trends than literally placing a model on a blank page with comments of why you should wear it and how. It shows creation; a form of art. This is hard to find sometimes within magazines as they have become rather accustomed to the ideal mainstream consumer. These mixed media  selections make you look further into the trend, and analyse them rather than just thinking, 'oh, florals are on trend this season'. Maybe this is just my view as a creative analyse student myself however i'm sure most people would rather see a colourful mix of beautiful shapes and patterns rather than the outfit given to you on a glossy editorial page.

Eclectic Boudoir.

My bedroom is my favourite place on earth. It's where I keep my most treasured items, presents, gifts, things that hold memories and of course my beloved clothes and shoes. I often sit in my room for inspiration, as it is beaming with colour, sparkle, bright objects and beautiful patterns. I sometimes like to think I'm in Marrakech, with all the exotic jewel colours, golds and mirrors. 

All the things in my bedroom mean alot to me because they either hold a memory or i've took time and customised them myself, with beads, paints or just throwing a necklace across a mirror or a mannequin to make it unique to my personality and tastes.

I'd love a pure white room with no colour, but I think I would get bored easily, yes it would be tranquil, peaceful and relaxing, but with so much colour, vibrance and energy in the room, inspiration, new ideas and imagination is never far away!
